The Bicentennial Commission is accepting materials to be included in a sealed time capsule to be opened during the County's 250th birthday celebration in 2072.

Any current or former Clay County resident as well as all organizations within County boundaries can submit materials and drop them off at the following locations:

• Clay County Administration Building, 3rd floor

• Clay County African-American Legacy at Historic Garrison School• Clay County Archives and Historical Library

• Clay County Museum and Historical Society

• Jesse James Farm

• Jesse James Bank Museum

All items must be contained in an envelope no larger than 8 1/2" x 11", and flash drive submissions are encouraged.

To submit items for your descendants, please write their names on the exterior of the envelope.  You may include your name, but it is not required.

All materials must be submitted by December 14th.  The 2072 time capsule will be sealed during a final celebration ceremony on January 5th, 2023.  The time capsule will be displayed publicly in the Clay County Administration Building.

We thank you all for taking part in Clay County's Bicentennial Celebration, and we hope you'll take advantage to create a legacy for the next 50 years!
