On this Thanksgiving, we want to give thanks for some of the unsung heroes of the Sheriff's Office: our Detention Unit staff. They are working today, as they must every holiday. But this year, they have worked harder than ever. Like many other places, we've had staffing shortages in the jail, but unlike some businesses, we can't simply close down for the day or reduce services. Our Detention staff members have come in to work on their days off and put in a tremendous amount of overtime to ensure the jail is running safely and smoothly. We are so thankful for all the work they've done to ensure inmates are well cared for, and to keep people who pose a threat to the safety of Clay County residents off the streets.
