North Kansas City Hospital (NKCH) and Meritas Health (MH) have once again been recognized on Forbes' list of America's Best Midsize Employers. This marks the third year that the healthcare provider, which is the only one from the Kansas City area to make the list, has received this distinction. NKCH and MH were ranked No. 171 out of 489 companies nationwide.

Stephen Reintjes Sr., MD, president and CEO of NKCH and MH, expressed pride in this achievement: “Being recognized as one of the best employers in the nation is a reflection of our goal to invest in our employees’ growth.” He emphasized their commitment to creating a supportive work environment.

Dawn Bryant, vice president of NKCH Human Resources, echoed these sentiments: “We are incredibly honored and proud to receive this distinction for a third time.” She highlighted that with over 4,700 employees averaging a tenure of 15 years, NKCH is more than just a workplace; it is a community where people want to be.

Forbes compiled its list by partnering with market research firm Statista. The survey involved approximately 217,000 workers from companies employing between 1,000 and 5,000 people. Participants evaluated their employers based on compensation, work environment, training programs, advancement opportunities, and whether they would recommend their employer to others.

NKCH has been serving as Northland’s preferred healthcare provider for over 67 years. It operates an acute care facility with 451 licensed beds and more than 600 physicians across various specialties. Through its subsidiary Meritas Health, NKCH offers extensive primary and specialty care services across more than 35 locations.

The hospital's accreditations include recognition from several prestigious organizations such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet designation and The Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval among others.
