North Kansas City Hospital (NKCH) and Meritas Health (MH) have been awarded the Healthiest Employer Award 2025 by the Kansas City Business Journal. This accolade recognizes organizations in the Kansas City area that prioritize health and well-being within their workplaces.
The NKCH and MH Wellness Program is noted for its commitment to fostering sustainable habits in mental well-being, physical endurance, nutrition, and overall health. The program provides support through an online portal, an on-site fitness center, and regular wellness events. "As we build a healthier and stronger community, our success is driven by a team committed to wellness," said Dawn Bryant, Vice President of Human Resources. "We are honored to receive this award as we strive to provide our employees with everything they need to lead healthy lives."
Healthiest Employers LLC evaluates organizations using an assessment tool powered by the Springbuk Health analytics engine. Scores consider aspects such as culture, leadership commitment to wellness, strategic planning, communication efforts, programming interventions, and reporting analysis.
An award ceremony will take place at Fiorella’s Event Space on March 28. The event will include a wellness discussion panel hosted by the Kansas City Business Journal in partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City.
NKCH has been serving the Northland community for over 67 years as a preferred healthcare provider. It operates as an acute care facility with 451 licensed beds and more than 600 physicians across 49 medical specialties. Through Meritas Health, NKCH offers a network of provider practices with over 280 primary and specialty care doctors across more than 35 locations. This includes an express care clinic located in the Hy-Vee store on 64th Street.
NKCH's commitment to quality healthcare is demonstrated through several accreditations including the American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet designation, a four-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and various certifications from The Joint Commission.
