The Kansas City Business Journal has awarded North Kansas City Hospital (NKCH) and Meritas Health with the Healthiest Employer Award 2025. This is the first time these organizations have received this recognition, which highlights their dedication to promoting health and well-being in the workplace.
The award reflects the commitment of NKCH and MH's Wellness Program, which evolves by listening to employees and supporting them through a reward system aimed at fostering better health. The program encourages sustainable habits for mental well-being, physical endurance, nutrition, and overall health. It includes a trackable online portal, an on-site fitness center, and regular wellness events and challenges. With more than 4,700 employees encouraged to take small steps towards significant positive changes, NKCH and MH emphasize a culture of wellness.

North Kansas City Hospital has been serving as the Northland’s preferred healthcare provider for over 67 years. The hospital aims to provide hope and healing through its acute care facility with 451 licensed beds and more than 600 physicians across 49 medical specialties. NKCH offers various services including cardiovascular programs, orthopedic programs, cancer care, emergency services, neuroscience services, spine care, women's services among others.
Through its subsidiary Meritas Health, NKCH operates the largest network of provider practices in the Northland with over 280 primary and specialty care doctors in more than 35 locations. This includes an express care clinic located within the Hy-Vee store on 64th Street.
NKCH holds several prestigious designations such as American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet designation; Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services four-star rating; The Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval; along with certifications for Comprehensive Cardiac Center among other specialized areas.
